Mangalore: Mangalore Qazi, T.A Musliyar has contended that Mosques are meant for Muslim men only and women have no right to enter them for namaz as per teachings of Quran and the last Prophet. He was issuing a message to the followers of Islam on Id-Ul-Zuha festival when lambs are sacrificed to Allah all over the Muslim countries.
Muslim devotees exchanged greetings on the occation of the Bakrid festival at Idgah Maidan of Tippu Sultan on the Lighthouse hill, apart from Kudroli and Syed Madani Dargah in Ullal today Morning during Namaz Prayers.
The Qazi made a strong speech against those who favoured Muslim women to participate in Friday prayers in Mosques, by saying it was an act of disbelief and sin. He added that the ideal place to offer namaz on festival days like Bakr-Id for women was at their respective homes only.
Surprisingly, the city Qazi did not devote a single minute of his 10 minute speech to the devotees on the true significance of Id – Ul – Zuha being celebrated as day of sacrifice for Ismail and Ibrahim, both Prophets who had access to God Allah.
The Qazi said that Prophet Mohammed took a sensible step of discouraging women from entering mosque to offer prayers, rather than make it a ban and brand oneself as “anti-women” when women and men in his days were not segregated even for meals. Later, more revelations were made and he was specific about women staying at home and praying from there.
The Qazi led the Eid namaz in city. U.T Khader (MLA), Maulana Abdul Khader, Y. Abdulla Kunhi and a large number of Muslim faithfuls were present at the prayers.
