Mangalore: A DK district level children’s carnival was held at the Town Hall on Friday (March 9) when Govt and Ashram schools children from DK danced sang painted or staged plays to their heart’s content.
The initiative came from Bal Vikas Academy of Dharwad, and DK Zilla Panchayat was a supporting organiser. Women and chilled welfare deptt also took part with other departments.
ZP chief K.T. Shailaja Bhat stressed on a suitable environment for children to develop their skills. She inaugurated the event. She did not want pressure from others on children to develop as they need to blossom like a flower.
The programme was on experimental basis but organised statewide welfare Deptt. Deputy director A. Shakuntala. The main purpose of Makkala Habba was to discover new springs of early talents and skills among future citizens who are children at present.
Bal Vikas Academy was set up in 2010 with Several plans. Makkala Habba was one of them, Shakuntala noted.
