Mumbai: One must congratulate bad boy of 84, Balasaheb Thackeray, for his criticism of congress nominating cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, and actress Rekha, presumably as congress party members, to the 6- year term seats of Rajya Sabha.
He condemned Sonia G, and her congress people for not naming Sunil Gavaskar (Mumbai) Kapil Deo (Delhi) or Karnataka’s Marathi boy Rahul Dravid, as Rs-Mps
Balasaheb on an earlier occasion criticised Sachin for his vote for UP Bhaiyas as Indians, and to say that he bothered more about India than about Maharashtra, which was a part of India.
Thackeray enquired congress if it was following a “vote bank” policy in picking and choosing its own people for awards (like Padmashree) and position (such as Rajya Sabha seats).
He realised that Sachin cannot talk in Rs about any political matter but only on cricket as a game.
The congress under Sonia was already neck deep immersed in trouble. It sought various newspapers to divert attention by such appointment which did no good to anyone, Balasaheb roared like a tiger in his daily editorial in Samna (confrontation), to belittle its thoughtless central appointments.
He found Rekha also unfit for Rs seat. Her nomination was part of Sonia dirty politics, Bal stated.
Readers in several newspapers, English or Indian language, have disapproved of the two or three nominations. Earlier Prithviraj, Dharmendra and other film artistes had become MPS but it was on ornamental selection, to boost congress glamour.
Balasaheb’s editorial remarks have always caught attention in Mumbai and India.
