Mangaluru: The police, on Wednesday arrested the third accused in the murder of RTI activist Vinayaka Baliga (51); Baliga was hacked to death near his house on March 21.

With Shivaprasad’s (28) arrest, the police have successfully nabbed three accused in the case, the others being contract killers, Vineeth Poojary and Vishith Devadia; they were arrested on March 27.

The police have said that Shiva was with the contract killers when Baliga was murdered. The police came to know about Shiva as they interrogated the contract killers.

In the meantime, the police had issued a lookout notice for Naresh Shenoy, founder of Yuva Brigade. However, Naresh has been absconding since the day of the murder, but is said to have applied for anticipatory bail before the II Additional District and Sessions Judge Court here. The court has instructed the public prosecutor to file objections to the bail application.
