Mangalore: A fishing ban is imposed by Karnataka Govt. on Coastal regions in 3 districts, effective from June 15 to August 10, to allow monsoon furies and breeding of fish population.
The 57 days ban on fishing is applicable to all fishermen using mechanized boats, trawlers or country boats with 10 HP engines. The ban cannot be violated, and no boats will venture into sea during the breeding season. No compensation is provided to violators in case of accidents at sea in the period.
The fishermen who violate state’s instructions are not entitled to and subsidized diesel quota, or for concessions in Central Excise Duty, a statement issued by Fisheries department, Govt. of Karnataka here, informed all concerned. They will face legal action, in case of ban Violation.
