Bangalore: The Congress staged protests at various parts of Bangalore on August 28, Tuesday against the garbage disposal problem that has been haunting Bangalore since the past few days. The party has also threatened to give call for a Bangalore bundh if the problem was not solved within a week.
In the protest that was staged at Minerva Circle, several Congress leaders including KPCC President G Parameshwar participated. He said the Congress would intensify protest and hold protest programmes in all the 198 wards of the city.
The piles of garbage that are seen at various parts of the city has left the city stinking, he said and added the BBMP despite spending Rs 800 crore towards garbage disposal was unable to solve the problem.
At DJ Halli, several Congress workers cleaned the streets and cleared the place of the garbage. However it is not known as to where the garbage was dumped. Similar steps were taken even in Rajajinagar and some other places.
