Bangalore : Police have arrested two more gym instructors in connection with the rape case in which a six-year-old had been allegedly raped in school premises.
“The arrests were made on the basis of circumstantial evidence and confession,” police officials reportedly said.
In another twist to the case, the police now claim that Mustafa alias Munna, the skating instructor who had been accused earlier of raping the girl, was innocent. “Involvement of the skating instructor in the six-year-old’s rape case has been ruled out,” TimesNow quoted a police official as saying. Police had arrested Munna on 20 July. He was sent to judicial custody last week.
The Vibgyor High School, where the child had been sexually assaulted, reopened on 28 July, almost two weeks after it had shut down following national outrage over the alleged rape.
After the incident, a task force comprising parents, teachers and senior students has been set up to implement certain guidelines to ensure safety and security of about 3,500 students studying in the school.
“Though the parents submitted to the management a set of 40 guidelines, it will put in place 11 of them for reopening the school and other measures by Sep 12, as they involve additional resources and logistics,” state block education officer SM Ramesh said.
The school’s founder and chairman Rustom Kherawalla was granted conditional bail last week after he was arrested in Daman and flown to the city for interrogation.
Kherawalla had been booked for destroying evidence of the crime, giving false information to screen the offender and failing to ensure the safety of the victim.
