Mangalore : One person was killed and 14 others were injured seriously when the tempo traveler in which they were travelling hit a goods lorry from the rear near Guruvayanakere in Belthangady taluk on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Lingaraju from Ashwath Garden, K B Nagar in Bangalore. He succumbed to the injuries on the way to the hospital.

They were on their way to Dharmasthala.

The accident was the result of alleged rash driving of tempo traveler driver Shabeer, said police.

The injured persons have been identified as Kamala, Latha, Gayathri, Meghana, Shivkumar, Krishnappa, Nanjamma, Manjula, Eeranna, Ravi, Venu, Shiva, Gopala and Nanjamma.

Two of the injured persons have been taken to Mangalore for advanced treatment.
