Bangalore: Shankar Pujari(56) from Padukone in Kundapura Taluk(Udupi dt.) and manager of Oriental Bank of Commerce on M.G.Road, living alone near Yediyur lake in an apartment within Jayanagar limits, was strangled to death on Saturday night, police said here. His family members are still in Mumbai, from where he was transferred a year ago here.

Pujari had his meals in a hotel and when a hotel employee came in search of him, death was discovered and reported. The body was on way to his bedroom, on the floor.

As the front door was open, it appears that someone had entered the apartment and gone away at night.

The volume of TV sounds was high between 9pm and 11pm; a neighbour said and added that normally Pujari would not keep the pitch so high, as he did not see on TV, late nights.

Police suspect that some known person had killed Pujari, as a room was ransacked inside. DyCPC-South, Sonia Narang is looking in to the murder case.
