Bantwal : A Shariff (24) resident of Badanaje in Kadambu village catch by the public when he attempted to rape a college student on July 11, Friday.

The accused is Sharief does painting work for his income. Unmarried Sharief, two years back had faced public advice in the region for chasing young ladies.

Friday July 11 he had beaten up for his shameful behavior by the public. He was later handed over to the Vittla police.

The accused Sharif, followed a girl studying in a medical college while she was returning home from the college at the remote area he questioned her name. The girl refused to answer him and hit him on her umbrella. He caught hold of her hand and tried to drag her. She raised a cry; locals rushed to the spot after heard her shouts. He tried to run away. The people chased him and trapped.

Vittal police sub-inspector,T R Raghavendra arrived with his team taken him into custody.
