Bantwal : A young woman from Bantwal taluk, a second  PUC student of Carmel Convent of Mondakaup drowned in a canal leading to the Krishnaraja Sagar dam on April 11, Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Bhagyalakshmi, daughter of Shobha S Rao and Satyanarayana Rao from Kudumundoor in Sajipamooda village. It is said she drowned while trying to save a child.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car who had accompanied Bhagya and others also died in his bid to save Bhagya. He is Ravikumar from Mysore.

 The tragedy took place when the family was on a trip to Mahadevapura. Shobha had been to her aunt’s house on summer holidays.

Here it may be recalled here two other students of Carmel Convent of Modankaup had met a watery grave at Karinjeshwara Temple pond a day earlier.
