Bantwal : Bantwal police have registered case against seven persons from Poorlippady in Kalladka area in connection with the attack on two people allegedly for illegal cattle transportation.
The victims are identified as Basheer and Siddiq from Kolnadu.
On getting the information on transporting cattle, two persons on a bike followed a pick-up vehicle from Mani and five persons who came in another pick-up vehicle blocked the road and were waiting to stop the cattle transportation vehicle at Poorlippady.
As the driver of cattle transporting vehicle realized that the bikers were following them, he increased the speed and lost control over the pick-up injuring Basheer and Siddiq. After the incident when the duo tried to escape, five men who were waiting for the pick-up attacked them. The injured are taking treatment at a private hospital in city.
Bantwal circle inspector Belliyappa and city station ASI Nandakumar visited the spot and seized two cows, 2 pick-up vehicles, and a bike into custody.
A case has been registered against Bashir and Siddiq for the illegal cattle transportation and seven people for murder attempt and assault.
The teams of officials are conducting the further investigation under the guidance of Bantwal ASP Rahul Kumar.
District Superintendent of Police, Dr Sharanappa also visited the area and deployed police forces to prevent further communal clashes in the sensitive area.
