Bantwal : A biker was killed and the pillion rider was grievously injured after a speeding tipper truck knocked their vehicle down near Karopady under Vitla police station limits on Sunday morning.

According to police, victim Anwar, 24, a resident of Muguli, Karopady, along with Nawab, 21, who was riding pillion, were on their way to attend a wedding. On approaching Karopady Padekallu, a speeding tipper truck coming from the opposite direction knocked them down. Anwar was pinned under the wheels of the truck, while Nawab, who sustained leg injuries, is being treated at a private hospital in Derlakatte. Anwar succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.

The truck driver and cleaner fled from the spot soon after the incident, which took place around 9.45am.
