Bantwal : The government has sanctioned a traffic police station to Bantwal town and it will be set up at Melkar, near the town, according to B. Ramanath Rai, minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada.
Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the “janata darshan” programme here on Wednesday on Nov 19 Mr. Rai, Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology, said that as the government land for constructing the station building was not available it would be set up on a private land.
Mr. Rai, also the MLA of Bantwal Assembly constituency, said that the government has sanctioned Rs 7.5 crore for building a bus-stand for the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation at Bantwal. Search for a suitable site is on.
He said that the design of the mini Vidhana Soudha which would be built at Bantwal was now being prepared. The government has also sanctioned Rs. two crore to Bantwal for Nirmal Bantwal Project on a pilot basis.
He said that the government has sanctioned five multi-village drinking water projects to Bantwal Taluk.
