Udupi : A man died while his wife sustained critical burn injuries in a horrific fire mishap at their residence on Ambalpady main road.

The deceased is Ramananda Shetty (52), owner of the Shetty Bar and Restaurant of Ambalpady.

His wife has been critically injured and has been rushed to the hospital. Children in the house have been rescued. The house is completely gutted in the fire. It is learnt the AC unit in the house exploded resulting in the fire.

Police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and undertook relief operations.
