Mangaluru: The main accused of businessman Baskar Shetty murder case astrologer Niranjan Bhat attempted to commit sucide at the Manipal police station on Tuesday.

It is said that he tried to commit sucide by consuming diamond pieces. He was supposed to produce before the court at 11am, but before that the attempted to commit sucide.

The media sources have said that he is not agreeing to come out of the intensive Care Unit. While a group of media personnel are waiting for him outside.

It is alleged that he might be trying to stay in the hospital as long as possible to stay away from the jail.

The hospital sources have said that he has consumed a whole diamond ring. It wasn’t crushed or cut, so there is no much harm for the accused.

As soon as he consumed the diamond he was rushed to the Ajjarkad hospital. It is reported that his condition is now stable.
