Mangalore : The members of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad picketed in front of Kavoor police station to protest against the assault on Hindu activist Charan and demanded suspension of the police inspector Umesh Kumar.
Addressing the protestors Vishwa Hindu Parishad district president Jagadish Shenava said that although Assistant Sub Inspector of Kavoor station filed an FIR against the inspector in connection to the alleged assault, the department has failed to suspend him.
Later, he demanded the Ravikumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Pandeshwar division, to suspend the inspector to facilitate unbiased probe into the matter.
Speaking to the press Jagadish, said that police officials were under pressure and not suspending the accused inspector. There was no need for SI to beat Charan since the case was dealt by the court and warrant was issued by the court.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishnuvardhan said that will be conducted by Moodbidri police Inspector Anantha Padmanabha and claimed that no action can be taken against him until the investigation report is completed.
The activists informed that they would stage a dharna again on October 18, Saturday in the same place.
