Mangalore : Jagadish Shenava, Working President of the Mangalore unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has urged parents to be cautious against some elements which were trying to over Hindu religion, its culture and traditions, particularly in educational institutions
He was delivering a special lecture at a religious meet held at Sri Durgadevi Temple at Varkady Taudugoli as part of Vishu celebrations. Continuing, he urged parents to ensure that Indian culture and tradition is protected. He also stressed the need for efforts to see that the participation in Hindu festivals and programmes increased. All fun and frolic during religious festivities should be banned, he said. He also urged that Hindu culture and traditions should be strictly adhered to in all houses.
Lakshminarayana Holla, Managing Trustee of Sri Madikattaya Daivasthana at Varkadi Marikapu who presided over the function, said it was better to correct oneself instead of pinpointing at other religions. Though there is affluence in the society, what people are lacking is peace.
The programme was earlier inaugurated by Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad. Harish Kanniguli, President of Seva Samithi, B Narayan Shetty, President of the Renovation Committee of Naringana Mutta Sri Durgaparameshwari Mutt, Aithappa Shetty Devandapadpu, Secretary of Varkady Devandapadpu Sri Mahavishnu Temple, Vishwanath Rai Kunjattur, entrepreneur, Naveen Shetty Mangalpady, President of Naringana Yuvaka Mandala, were present.
Shivaprasad Taudugoli, President of Sri Kshetra Management Committee welcomed the gathering. Satish Kumar Pundikai, journalist, compered the programme.
