Bangalore: The 20,000 pages of loaded final report from Karnataka Lokayukta Justice N.Santosh Hedge, is expected to be presented (or submitted) by the Register in his office to the ruling state Government of BJP, by evening of Wednesday(today), July 27, in his(Hedge) own words.
The report ought to cover the entire gamut, of mining history of Bellary at., and other parts of Karnataka (including Belekeri seizure of 8 million tons of iron ore, and illegal 6mt of exports stealthily the done by port officials), to earn extra money while recording the missing large piles of iron ore.
If any mining transaction is left out inadvertently, it is the responsibility of LA office, that the officials did not take note of the left out case, as it is a complete overhaul of mining done in Karnataka in ten years, covering congress/JD-s/BJP rule from 2011, that we see in this bulky report.
Justice Hedge was appointed in 2008, after BJP came to power as a minority govt, and through ‘Operation Kamala’ and other ways, got into a working majority. Hedge is responsible, not to the Governor, but to the ruling Govt-under Yeddyurappa, as a successor to Venkachalaliah who retired in 2007 with a Governors rule coming over Karnataka, after the exit of JD-S rule of 20 months under H.D. Kumaraswamy as CM.Yeddyurappa was deputy CM, when JD-S made money through several mining illegal deals in Bellary and its reserved forests. Earlier, N.Dharam Singh and SM. Krishna as congress CMs had a share in mining matters under their rule as CMs Governor Rameshwar Thakur was also involved in mining licenses issued during his rule of 6 months as Governor.
CM Yeddyurappa swears that under his rule as CM, not a single mining license was issued, which means that he can be blamed only for illegal mining production and exports through AP/Tamilnadu/Karnataka ports (Vishakapatnam, Chennai, Belekeri and Mangalore) for 2008-09, but later he banned all ore experts from Karnataka, even when courts allowed iron ore production/exports by licensed business companies legally (to China, Korea, and other countries).
But Yeddyurappa cannot be called innocent of all that is going on in Obalapuram Mining Co., (of the Gali Reddys group) and several other Cos., on the Andhra border, which have devastated Govt. lands and forests alike.
He has brought about huge losses to the State Treasury (it could cross Rs.2,000 crores,) by allowing illegal mining by winking and looking the other way, while IAS, IFS, and IPS officers had a field day in border districts of Bellary/Anantpur.
The Lokayukta report may not be attended to by BJP, lest their fingers should burn out, but the UPA (Delhi) Govt. is watching the situation closely, and BJP High Command leaders should sack Yeddyurappa, or join the group of corrupt rulers in India. A new Lokayukta is already appointed.
