Mangalore: BJP has heaved a sigh of relief after it lost its deposit in the rural Bellary by-poll held on Nov 30, with results coming out on Dec 04, Sunday.
BJP state Chief K.S. Eshwarappa (KSE) spoke of a deep pain in his heart over the loss, but confirmed that BJP could dance, without anymore tainted spots, as the member elected is an independent.
He expressed satisfaction over a loss this time. CM DVS Gowda also felt good over the score, from a “zero” earlier, to over 17,000 votes which were still not enough.
Sriramulu had over 74,500 votes. But KSE said he would make a working capital out of a losing by-election, to win later on, in 2014.
The Reddy Brothers were talking of having Bellary in their grip, but the fact to the contrary had been established, as it was. There is no room for any despair, the BJP ruler KSE expressed, as party is out of the woods now.
The state Government will attempt full development of Bellary after losing a Rs. 1,000 crores given to Reddys, to look after their tiny fiefdom. The mining lords in Reddy family had cemented the roads leading to their mansions, giving a wrong impression about Bellary that they ignored all these years.
Now, BJP knows that Reddys did nothing to Bellary’s poverty, but looted iron ore and distributed only leftovers to rural voters during the by-poll, a caustic KS Eshwarappa remarked on outcome without batting an eyelid.
