Mangalore, June 19, 2012: Belthangady police have arrested seven people, including 3 women and 4 men in relate to theft cases.
Addressing a press meet held in his office on June 19, Tuesday, SP Abhishek Goyal said that the seven accused were arrested near Bantwal in Kadur highway near Charmady in Belthangady on June 4.
The arrested are identified as N. Lokesh (24), N. Basavaraj (23), Saroja (44), Rathna (35), Kavitha (28), Ganesh (25), and Srinivas (25) hailing from Tamil Nadu.
He said that the gang had robbed ATM card, mobile phone, and Rs. 6,640 from Bharath Singh, while on his journey from Dharmasthala to Ujire on May 30.
They were also involved in many robbery cases across Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, he said.
Speaking on Meera Balakrishnan murder case, he said that she was murdered in 2008 and the police have arrested five people in connection with the case, now the case has been handed over to the CID.
