Udupi : Bhajrangdal activists protested outside the Stella Maris Church at Kalmady near here on December 26, Wednesday opposing a poster put up outside the church showing a Hindu boy at the feet of Mother Vailankanni.
The banner shows a Brahmin boy at the feet of Vailankanni as goes the story of a Brahmin boy who had a vision of Mother Mary and offering a pot of milk to Vailankanni on her request.
The Church Parish Priest Fr Alban D’Souza tried to pacify the agitators by stating that the banner was not offensive and said the church was ready to remove it. But, the agitators demanded that the church authorities should also tender an unconditional apology.
Udupi and Malpe police too arrived at the spot to prevent any untoward incident. The matter ended on a peaceful note after the church management tendered an apology and the banner removed.
