Mangalore : On February 14, Thursday, Bhajrangdal activists in Mangalore staged a protest near the Besant Women’s College, against celebration of Valentine’s Day.
Several activists burnt greeting cards and shouted slogans against Valentine’s Day.
Bhajrangdal leader Puneet Pumpwell who spoke on the occasion, said Valentine’s Day celebration was a Western Culture and Indian youth need not follow it. He said the Bhajrangdal would never agree to the celebrations.
Several Bhajrangdal leaders including Pramod Pumpwell, Uday, Padmanabha were part of the protest.
The Bhajrangdal had earlier issued a press communiqué stating it was against the celebrations and will not allow the celebrations.
Kadri police were present to ensure that there were no untoward incidents.
