Mangalore : Manjunath Mandya,state convenor of Bhajrangdal has urged the government to take steps to close all illegal slaughter houses in the state.
Speaking to reporters here, he said if the government does not act, the Bhajrangdal will forcibly shut down the abbatoirs.
He accused the Congress government in the state of pursing anti-Hindu policies and also criticized the government for withdrawing eh funds sanctioned to the Mutts. He said this was an attempt to appease minorities.
He said the state government decision to scrap the policy to ban cow slaughter mooted by the previous government clearly showed that the government was against Hindus, Manjunath further added.
He urged the government to direct all DCs to close illegal slaughter houses.
Sharan Pumpwell, Convenor of Mangalore unit of Bhajrangdal who also spoke that the presence of over 250 beef stalls when only the few legal slaughter houses are permitted to butcher only a few cows, revealed that there are many illegal slaughter houses.
He was also critical of the statements made by the new MLA on steps to curb moral policing.
Jagadish Shenava, Working President of VHP, Bhujanga Kulal, Bhajrang Dal District Convener, Pradeep Pumpwell and others were present.
