Mangalore: A young man from Bhatkal who was travelling in the Ogha Express along with his wife, proved a Good Samaritan to a labourer women from Maharashtra, who was suffering from acute labour pain in the train.
The woman who was with her husband and other fellow labourers was apparently sent to the lavatory in the train for delivery by those who were with her.
The youth from Bhatkal Rayeez Ahmed Janjam who heard the woman’s cries rushed for help only to be prevented by others accompanying her who at the same time were not ready to help the woman who was suffering.
He somehow convinced them and took the woman to her seat and with the help of his wife, saw to it that the woman had a normal delivery. It was a baby boy and Rayeez requested the engine driver to arrange for an ambulance. But when he failed to respond, he managed to raise Rs 4000 from the train passengers and took the woman to the Wenlock Hospital in a private vehicle.
The woman and the child were later admitted to Ladygoschen and both are doing fine.
