Mangalore :  An entrepreneur hailing from Kinnigoli luckily escaped a kidnapping attempt at Battakodi near his house on Friday October 12.

The incident is learnt to have taken place when the businessman Cyprian D’Souza was on way home after dropping his children to school. According to him, four youth   who came in  Maruti Omni intercepted his Scorpio vehicle and entered it and made an attempt to tie him down at gun point.  But very soon, Cyprian with a presence of mind jumped out of the vehicle and began to run. Meanwhile his Scorpio which was in neutral gear began to move and  the kidnappers too jumped out and fled on seeing locals rushing to the spot.

In his bid to escape, Cyprian sustained injuries in his leg. He said he was unaware of the kidnappers but admitted that he received threatening calls over internet by a person claiming himself as an associate of underworld don Ravi Poojari.

Cyprian owns a mill and furniture shops and is also into real estate business.
Mulki police are investigating the case.
