Mangalore: A bike rider lost his life and another critically injured when the bike rammed against a  truck which halted all of a sudden when RTO  personnel stopped the trailer for a checking near the KPT Junction on March 23.

Though both the riders who were seriously injured were rushed to AJ Hospital, one of them succumbed. Angry public gathered at the spot and protested against the apathetic nature of the RTO staff who fled the scene of the accident by abandoning their vehicle.

Public who gathered around started raising slogans and complained that the RTO men used to stop vehicles as and where possible taking motorists from behind totally unawares.

According to reports, ACP Subrahamanya tried to pacify the agitators. Even RTO Mallikarjuna who rushed to the spot assured to take action against the erring RTO personnel.
