Mangalore : A bike rider thanked his stars and the helmet firm on his head that saved his life in what could have been a major casualty in a road mishap reported from near Yekkur on July 18, Thursday.

A State-Bank to Vittal Express service  bus named “Haddadiya’ was speeding and knocked down the bike rider riding a brand new Honda Activa. The rider fell on the road, but thanks to his helmet did not suffer any injury except in his legs, he was rushed to the hospital.

The speeding bus later hit the road divider and stopped and the driver escaped fearing he may be thrashed by the public for causing the accident.

However, he was chased and caught when he said the bike rider suddenly took a turn resulting in the mishap. Later he pleaded that he be spared as he was on  a Ramzan fasting.
