Mangalore: The motor-cyclist who lost his life on Saturday around sunset in a road accident at Yekkur on city outskirts, was identified on Monday as Mohammad Arif(22) from Uppala(Kerala) near Kumbla.
The young bike rider on NH-75 who fell off his vehicle with a pillon-rider(who survived), had been run over by a lorry near Yekkur railway bridge, while trying to overtake another vehicle. His head was smashed beyond recognition in the impact of the confrontation.
The pillion-rider ran away from the gory scene, soon after the accident. Arif’s elder brother later confirmed that the dead rider was his younger brother, at the morgue in Government Wenlock hospital.
The body was then handed over to the bereaved family on Monday afternoon (September 19).
The bike was reportedly stolen from a parking place near the Town Hall. It had belonged to Alex Anthony(25) of Vidyanagar at kavoor police said.
