Mangalore: A “Tuluvere Aati” programme organised by the Billawara Mahila Sangha and Akhila Bharatha Billawara Union at the Narayana Guru College in Mangalore on Sunday was inaugurated by MP Naln Kumar Kateel.
Speaking on the occasion, Nalin said women a play a very important role in creating awareness among the present generation on the age old customs and traditions of the land. Aati, he said was a month of special significance for Tuluvas.
Folk scholar Bannanje Babu Amin, delivered a lecture on the occasion. Leelavathi, traditional medical practitioner and a member of the Koti Chennaya clan, was felicitated on the occasion, Naveenchandra D Suvarna, President of the Akhila Bharatha Billawara Union, inaugurated the self-help group on the occasion.
Billawa Mahila Union President Sumalatha Suvarna, Sukhalakshi Y Suvarna, General Secretary and others were present .
