Mangalore : As part of post centenary silver jubilee celebrations of Mangalore Diocese, Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese handed over the keys of one of the 160 houses constructed for the poor in Maroli on Jan 14 Saturday.
Bishop also unveiled the name plate of the house, specially offered by the Holy Cross Church of Kulshekar on the occasion.
The Mangalore Diocese is all set for its 125th anniversary celebrations, which are scheduled to be held on Feb 11 – 12. One of the projects undertaken by the diocese as part of this occasion was the construction of 160 houses for the poor, each house representing one of its parishes.
Speaking on the occasion, the bishop said that Mangalore Diocese is ready for its 125th anniversary celebrations to be held on Feb 11 – 12.
He also said that the Mangalore Diocese has conducted many social welfare projects in its history. The project of constructing 160 houses will be continued.
Sushil Noronha, the secretary of the post centenary silver jubilee committee, Fr. Onil D’Souza, the CODP director, Fr. Valerian Pinto, the parish priest of Holy Cross Church, Fr. Valerian Pinto, the parish priest of Kulshekar parish and John Moras, the assistant priest of Guardian Angel Church were present.
