Bangalore: With Yeddyurappa claiming that he was the only leader available in BJP on Sunday in Bangalore and there is none else to take his place in the state as CM and that he would continue to be CM for next 2 and half years, it sounded like a swan song to his listeners, as the decision to change him or keep him at the helm has been left to BJP High Command in Delhi, which is too far from Bangalore and are not much conversant with state leadership in murky circumstances. What Congress and UPA has in New Delhi, the same leadership problem is in BJP in South India. There is no non – controversial leader in both places for BJP (in Karnataka) or for Congress (in New Delhi).
No one knows who can replace B.S. Yeddyurappa. Certainly, the Lokayukta cannot, but some leaders have approached Justice Hegde (who was on medical leave for 15 days) to sack Yeddyurappa for his nepotism and illegal money deposits.
Non – controversial are neither found in Congress nor in BJP, both national parties. JD(S) is only a splinter party with JD (U) in power in Bihar, as its counterpart. It can never regain power the way HDK has been trying for it. HDK at best can remain in public attention by telling lies and hiding his own weaknesses when he was in power 2006-07 and of grabbing property and money and wives. He did not succeed in Delhi as an MP due to his ugly past and bad governance. The present CM cannot form a new regional party with Shobha K. for certain.
