Bangalore : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is adopting dual policy while fighting against corruption, former Prime Minister and JD(S) National President H D Deve Gowda said Friday.
Talking to newspersons here, he said ”BJP, which is the main opposition in the Parliament, is demanding JPC into 2G Spectrum, while it is shielding Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa against whom corruption and nepotism charges were levelled with proper documents.” ”Is it not dual policy adopted by a national party which claims itself a fighter against corruption and a clean party,” Mr Gowda questioned.
Stating that the BJP has no moral right to demand JPC, Mr Deve Gowda said ”when corruption charges were raised in 2G Spectrum and Adarsha Housing Society scam the ministers concerned were asked to quit, while the senior BJP leaders have no guts to direct Mr Yeddyurappa to step down. When such is the case where is the moral right for BJP to demand Prime Minister’s resignation.” He said senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley, who was in Bangalore recently, met Governor H R Bhardwaj who aprised him of corruption charges allegedly levelled against Yeddyurappa, but there was no word about it in New Delhi by the BJP and that party senior leaders including L K Advani, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley were keeping mum on the issue.
”Despite CBI inquiry into 2G Spectrum issue and Supreme Court monitoring it and asking report by February 14, the BJP is sticking to its demand of Prime Minister’s resignation. What moral right they have,” he questioned.
