New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that the Karnataka Governor H.R. Bhardwaj had disobeyed all the rule of political impartiality and this should be recalled.
BJP leader Arun Jaitley said that, Bhardwaj has defied all norms of political detachment and constitutionality.
He is the person who has also given permission to use Raj Bhavan for political purposes. The BJP government in Karnataka has been in the thick of a crisis since 11 legislators, along with five Independents, rebelled against the leadership of Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.
CM BS Yeddyurappa has won a trust votes in the state assembly on Monday, but Governor Bhardwaj called for president’s rule in the state. Now he has also given another opportunity for the CM to prove majority in the house by Oct 14.
Jaitley said that of the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) and Congress leaders along with rebel members of the legislative assembly have defied the anti-defection law and are ruling the Raj Bhavan.
“Jaitley also said that, the matter looks as the governor has lost his impartiality. He cannot be the custodian of the constitution in the state. Hence the central government must immediately recall the governor.
According to the BJP leader, it is clarified that the government had earlier written a letter to the speaker K.G. Bopaiah, asking him not to exercise his powers under the anti-defection law in the threatening way.
Further the BJP legislators who are in the national capital and will visit senior leader L.K. Advani Tuesday evening and discus the matter.
