Udupi:  The BJP and the Bhajrangdal staged a protest in front of the Manipal police station on October 29, Monday to condemn the alleged assault on a Bhajrangdal activist in the police station.

It has been said that a Bhajrangdal worker named Anil had accompanied one Chandrashekhar Nayak of Perampally to lodge a complaint when he was questioned and rebuked. Anil later alleged that he was assaulted by the police and informed his fellow men who wasted no time in staging a protest.

The protestors dispersed only after the police registered the complaint made by Chandrashekhar Nayak.
