Mangalore : BJP leader K. S. Eshwarappa has exuded confidence that the party will be able to win 20 Lok Sabha seats in the State. The people and youth of the nation are keen on seeing Narendra Modi as the prime minister of the nation.
Addressing a convention of party workers of Mangalore South Assembly constituency here on Sunday, at CV Nayak Hall, in the city, he claimed that there was a “Modi wave” in the country. It would help the party to sweep Lok Sabha elections in the State, the UPA led Congress government paid little attention to security aspects. Corruption is at its highest and women no longer can wake safely on roads, he said.
Further he said that Poojary should not disrupt peace or indulge in communalism, the youth in the State were eager to get Narendra Modi, the current Chief Minister of Gujarat, elected as the prime minister.
The former Deputy Chief Minister alleged the country was facing security threat under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule. The Union government has failed to control corruption in the country, he alleged.
Mr. Eshwarappa claimed that the Congress will lose its prominence after this elections.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP and the party’s candidate for Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency promised to work for the development of the constituency if given another chance.
Over 50 Congress workers including former corporator James D’Souza , Muralidhar Bolar and others joined the BJP on the occasion.
Yogish Bhat, former MLA, Ravishanker Mijar, town unit BJP President, Sudhir Shetty Kannur, Premanand, Nagaraj Shetty, Roopa D Bangera and others were present.
