Kasargod: A clash that ensued between BJP and CPM workers at Kumble on October 7, Sunday, left nearly nine persons injured. Two persons said to be CPM workers have been arrested in connection with the clashes.
The incident took place when the men were returning from the gramotsava at Bambrana Bayal. According to CPM workers, they were attacked when they objected attempts to communalist the sports event. But the BJP men alleged that one of them was attacked by a group of CPM workers, resulting in the clash.
The injured had been admitted to hospitals in Mangalore and at the Pariyaram medical college hospital.
Reports said the Kumble police led by Circle Inspector TP Ranjith raided a few houses on Sunday night in its bid to apprehend those responsible for the violecne; Security has been tightened in the area following the incident.
