New Delhi: A BJP leaders meeting called to finalise BJP stand on Lokpal bill tabled in Parliament had farcical scenes in it. MP and former Finance Minster Yeshwant Sinha criticised the top leadership for surrendering to whims and fancies of Anna Hazare, while fighting hard against corruption at large and losing the battle. Sinha has threatened to resign his seat, if the parliamentary BJP did not activate its full scale fights against UPA corruption. If only the attacks on corruption had been sharpened, there was no need to finalise its stand (for BJP) to fight corruption in its malignant forms, Sinha felt.
Rajya Sabha member S.S. Ahaluwalia speaking on the occasion explained that BJP extended its support to Anna Hazare as the Bill moved on Lokpal set-up by the ruling Congress was very weak in nature.
Anna Hazare’s health was deteriorating in view of his age and 9th day of fasting has added to his difficulties. The fast should be stopped soon and it should be within limits of Lokpal bill, this was BJP stand, sources in BJP stated. There is no unanimity over CBI being brought under Lokpal bill, once the Lokpal takes over CBI work.
