Mangalore: A protest meeting of BJP Mahila Morcha group of women led by Sulochana Bhat, its District President on Dec.31, 2013 organized at the DCO gates in city, urged the police personnel to round up lawless goondas in the locality of 3 universities around Deralakatte and Konaje.
Roopa D Bangera senior BJP corporate and a former mayoral candidate of MCC, speaking on the occasion condemned the criminal acts of an 8 member lawless gang that was caught by the city police ion 2 days and remanded to 15 days of judicial custody. She demanded that such shameful incident should not repeat in DK district as a whole, as the resent incident involving 2 university students had further tarnished the name of DK district, apart from the Balmatta and Padil Home stay incidents. She asked women to be careful about their behavior in public and protect their character, so that no hooligan or gangs violated them.
Sushma Janardhan, Katyayaini Seetaram, Pushpalatha Gatti, Shakeela kava, Niveditha Shetty and other Mahila Morcha leaders took part in the protest, attended by a large number of women who were sympathetic towards victims of Deralakatte incident.
