Bangalore : AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka affairs Digvijay Singh on Tuesday alleged that the BJP would try to disrupt communal harmony in the Congress-ruled states ahead of the Lok Sabha polls and asked the Karnataka government to come down heavily on communal forces.
Addressing Congress leaders and workers at the KPCC general body meeting here, Singh said the BJP and the Sangh Parivar have run out of issues to face the polls.
They know fully well that they can’t win the 2014 general elections without instigating communal violence in the Congress-ruled states, he alleged.
The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister said the Sangh operated through more than 150 different organisations and, that they have to be kept under a strict watch. There should also be a strict control over communal elements so that they don’t spread the ideology of communal violence and hatred, he said.
Later, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said he would take necessary measures to curb communal forces in the State. Police officials of respective districts will be held responsible if there is any communal disharmony, he warned.
