Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district BJP unit welcomed national BJP Chief Amit Shah, on Sunday at Mangaluru Central Railway Station. Shah arrived in Kocchuveli-Chandigarh Express at 4:30 am.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, district BJP President Sanjeev Matandoor, MLA C T Ravi, former minister Krishna J Palemar and others gave a warm welcome to Amit Shah.
Due to security reasons Amit Shah didn’t addressed the crowd who were gathered in thousands of number. He was taken to a private hotel in a car.
Later speaking to the media personnel district BJP President Sanjeev Matandoor said that the people of DK have created history by gathering in huge number. Amith Shah was welcomed by the people along with other leaders.
Replying to the reporter’s question regarding organising party’s programme in University, he said “this is not a party programme. This is a public programme. No party flags are involved in this. Anybody can take part in the programme. Freedom-70 has been organised to commemorate the sacrifice of freedom fighters,” he said.
As per the schedule of Amit Shah first he will flag off the Tiranga Rally at Pumpwell Circle. Later he will address the public at Mangala Gangotri Campus, Mangaluru University. He will also garland the statue of Rani Abbakka.
State BJP President and MP Shobha Karandhlaje will also join Amit Shah at Konaje.
