Bangalore : If rumours are to be believed, Sri Rama Sene founder and fire brand speaker Pramod Mutalik may soon join his parent party-the BJP and contest the next assembly election.
It is learnt, the BJP sources were persuading Mutalik to rejoin the party. It is said, a hotelier of DK district is playing a key role in this regard.
Even Pejawar Seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji and Uma Bharathi are said to be playing some role behind asking BJP to bring Mutalik back to the party.
Sources said the party was in dire need of a leader who can actively project its Hindutva agenda, in the absence of its erstwhile stalwart BS Yeddyurappa. Yet another main reason to woo Mutalik is the fact that his Sri Rama Sene was strong in some places where the BJP is likely to face stiff competition.
The BJP it is learnt wants Mutalik to contest from Belgaum North where Congress’s prominent leader Feroz Nooruddin Sait will be contesting. He is the sitting MLA. The party also feels that Mutalik with his Marathi roots will be able to penetrate the Congress vote bank in the region.
It has also been reliably learnt that Mutalik has admitted that the BJP was pressurizing him to rejoin the party.
