Mangalore : Former Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the Election Campaign for civic poll 2013 at Town Hall on Feb 28, Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the upcoming civic poll election will decide about the development of the district.
BJP party has done good developmental work in the district and state. He also said that Congress government had given the fund of Rs 430 crore in 25 years, but BJP government has given the fund of Rs 525 crore in 5 years of rule.
The BJP government schemes such as E-governance and Sakala programme for the first time in administration in the state. It has also implemented various other schemes for the welfare of the state, women and children. If state has to see more developmental works, then BJP must come into power again.
This election BJP will get 50% of the votes while all other parties will together hold 50% votes, he said.
Criticizing former minister B S Yeddyurappa, he said that Yeddy used to tell that he has implemented various schemes, but he has given from the party’s and government’s treasure and not from his personal account, he said.
He also wished contestants of 60 wards and honoured them with the BJP shawl.
Presiding over event, Deputy Speaker N Yogesh Bhat said that BJP which came into power in the Mangalore City Corporation did the tremendous developmental job.
He also said that Mangalore City was facing the drinking water problem. When BJP came into power, the leaders met four CM, and finally got permission to set up vented dam, which will solve the drinking water problem for life time. The dam will be completed by the month May, he said.
The drainage problem and the foot path will be completed very soon. The government has also sanctioned fund for Synthetic-track at Mangala Stadium and tourism projects in the district such as 3D Swamy Vivekananda planetarium at Pilikula, Golf Course, Aqua Marine Park and water sports at Bengre are on the process.
Further the MCC has planned to give 2000 houses to poor from MUDA, he added.
He also released the election manifesto on the occasion.
