Mangaluru: “Not releasing water to Tamil Nadu is the only option for Karnataka. We will support the government in this matter,” said BJP MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik.
Addressing the press personnel at district BJP office he said that instead of urging the central government to interfere in the matter, the state government can stop releasing the water to Tamil Nadu.
“The state government should do this keeping Karnataka’s farmers in mind. BJP will back the government to face any consequences. Already Karnataka is facing drought like situation, due to lack of rain fall. In this situation, if Karnataka releases water to Tamil Nadu, then in further two months the dam will be emptied,” he said.
He further said that in Tamil Nadu monsoon yet to start and there is no need of the central government interfering in the matter, it is the state government’s duty to take a brave step.
Further commenting on smart city project, he said that people have high expectations on this project.
“It is a great gift from the Central government for Dakshina Kannada for electing BJP candidate as their MP from past 20 years. MCC, district administration and the state government should effectively implement the project in Mangaluru,” he added.
BJP district President Sanjeev Matandoor, former MLA Yogesh Bhat, Monappa Bhandary, Premananda Shetty and others were present.
