Udupi: Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, president of the Udupi district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said on Thursday that the BJP would win 135 seats in the Assembly elections and come to power in the State. Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Hegde said that the BJP would win all the five Assembly seats in Udupi district.
The entire situation in the district had changed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited here. This was the information he was getting. The people were now in favour of the BJP.
“The BJP had several achievements to its credit including the widening of the two lane roads into four-lane roads, construction of the District Offices Complex, solid waste management plant and Government First Grade College in Udupi when it was in power,” he said.
He added that the Congress government had little to show as its achievements in the State as well as the district. “The various pension schemes started by the Yeddyurappa government had been stopped. The Congress government had not able to solve many problems confronting Udupi district including the shortage of sand.
The government itself had created an artificial scarcity of sand to promote m-sand. This had affected the livelihood of about 3,000 persons,” he claimed.
He further added that the issue of demarcation of forest and revenue lands had not been solved in the district.
Yashpal Suvarna, Ravi Amin, and other BJP leaders, were present.
