Udupi : The Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition government in the State would collapse after the parliamentary elections said former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Sunday.
He was speaking at a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers meeting at Byndoor in Udupi district. The Byndoor Assembly segment in Udupi district comes under the Shivamogga parliamentary constituency.
Mr. Yeddyurappa said that there were constant fights among the two coalition partners and the State government would collapse because of the contradictions within the coalition parties. He had toured the State twice. He was confident that the BJP would win not less than 22 parliamentary seats in the State, he said. During the 2014 parliamentary elections, Mr. Modi had promised to provide a corruption-free government and he had fulfilled it. The BJP would win over 300 seats across the country in the 2019 parliamentary elections, he said.
“The BJP is committed to reaching its goal of having a ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’. We have achieved half of our objective and now, the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda will help us in achieving the rest of the objective,” he said.
The last five years had seen the country emerging as a major economic power. The flow of Foreign Direct Investment into the country had increased manifold.
