Bengaluru : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate won the presidential polls for the Doddaballapur CMC, thanks to the political tactics of Revenue Minister Mr R Ashoka. Mr Ashoka was instrumental in getting JD(S) support for the BJP’s candidate. BJP’s Sudha Rani was elected as president of Doddaballapur CMC and Faran Taj as vice-president.
Speaking to the media, Mr R Ashoka said, “From today, we can witness development in Doddaballapur. Though there is a Congress MLA, we have been able to bag the CMC. This will help us to strengthen the party in the coming days. For the last 1.5 months, I have been constantly following the tie up. We have taken JD(S) to confidence and hence secured their support. When I was the district in charge minister, I had got a makeshift hospital in Doddaballapur. The State Government has given a number of grants to the city and this will increase in the coming days. I thank former CM HD Kumaraswamy for his support for CMC prez polls.”
Mr Ashoka who had continuous meetings with the CMC councillors was successful in convincing two independents to the BJP fold. The elections were held in the leadership of Mr Ashoka and this had helped the BJP to emerge as the single largest party in CMC polls.
