Bangalore : As many as 1,000 BJP workers will arrive in a padayatra from Mysore to Palace Grounds in Bangalore, the venue of the party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s rally on November 17.
The padayatra will commence from the Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple in Mysore on Tuesday morning and the entire stretch would be covered by foot with overnight halts at Mandya, Channapatna and Ramanagara.
The BJP has chosen the padayatra through a belt that is not its traditional stronghold.BJP sources said it is a political move to send a message to its opponents that the Modi factor would help the party in making inroads into these segments.
The padayatra would culminate at Palace Grounds on the evening of November 16. Local units of the party would coordinate with the participants along the route.Besides carrying placards and publicity material with regard to the rally, the padayatra will also take up campaign against the policies of the UPA and state governments, the sources added.
While preparations for the rally is in full swing, a section of party leaders is reportedly unhappy with the style of functioning of former deputy chief minister R Ashoka, who is incharge of overseeing the arrangements for the convention.
It is said that former ministers C T Ravi and Aravind Limbavali are unhappy over the domination of Ashoka and for not taking them into confidence while taking decisions related to the rally.
