Mangaluru : In the vaccine centers, the BJP is working hard to vaccinate for its supporters said, Senior Congress leader and former MLC Ivan D’Souza.

Speaking to reporters here on May 29, Saturday, he alleged that the BJP by stating that the party was running a vaccine mafia for every 100 vaccine doses, 30 are kept for BJP supporters.

For every 100 vaccine doses, 70 coupons are distributed while 30 are kept to be given to the relatives or people known to BJP elected representatives,” he alleged. “Thus if 500 people arrive and if there are 100 doses of vaccines, 70 coupons are distributed while 30 is earmarked for BJP people and the remaining 430 who have arrived to take their shots are sent back,” Ivan alleged.

He also said there was information that coupons were sold for as much as Rs 200 in Vamanjoor.

He further alleged that BJP elected representatives were recommending public to get vaccinated at private hospitals and questioned why they were promoting private hospitals.

He alleged that the vaccination drive has become a business for the BJP and added that the Congress would stage a silent protest at Bejai against “vaccine mafia” on May 31, Monday.
