Mangalore: A voluntary blood donation camp at Govt. PU Women’s College premises in Balmatta was organized on Sunday, by several Junior Chamber of Commerce groups in port city.
The programme marked ‘World Blood Donors’ Day’ recognized by WHO, as on June 14. It is in honour of a scientist who discovered ABO blood group system, Karl Landsteiner.
The camp was inaugurated by Jc. Ashit Kumar of zone 15. Dr. Mohandas Bhandary, Vice-President, Red Cross India, was the guest on the occasion. Several noted Jcs were present.
A press release issued on the programme stated that the Jcs expected to collect 100 units of blood from donors. A directory of such donors is expected to be out soon, after collecting data across DK/Mangalore, it said.
